Stewart Coull

Comedian

Stewart Coull

Stewart Coull is a retired schoolteacher who worked with children with learning difficulties for more than 20 years. Stewart is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin and has worked in Scotland since 1970.

The product of a Belfast mother and a Scottish father, Stewart was eligible to play both international football and rugby for either country. Unfortunately, due to a breakdown in communications, the news escaped both camps, in both sports, so Stewart remained undiscovered. (This was before Jack Charlton’s time!)

Stewart’s main interest is sport : football, rugby and golf. He supports Airdrieonians Football Club, which makes him an optimist with a sense of humour. He is past President of both Waysiders and Cumbernauld Rugby Clubs. He plays golf on the two magnificent courses at Dullatur Golf Club.

Stewart’s other interests are: cooking, (Seafood a speciality - he claims his dressed crab will stand comparison with anyone’s), music - he plays guitar and banjo ukulele and sings “diddly diddly” music, and caravanning, mostly in Portpatrick.

Married to Helen, Stewart has two children, a girl and a boy (yes a gentleman’s family but then what else would you expect?). Since he retired Stewart is now a full time raconteur and his gift for story telling and his irresponsible sense of humour have made him a firm favourite at the wide variety of clubs, venues and functions at which he has appeared. Stewart has been a regular contributor to the Fred McCauley Show on BBC Radio Scotland and is a member of Equity.

Sir Henry Cooper
Former professional boxer
Henry Cooper

‘Our Enry’ remains one of the most popular British sportsmen of all time. He also threw one of the most famous punches in the history of boxing when he floored Muhammad Ali (then Cassius Clay) at Wembley Stadium in 1963.

Henry dominated the British and European heavyweight scene for a decade or more and is the only British Champion to win three Lonsdale Belts outright. Since his retirement Henry has been in much demand in television and personal appearances at numerous client, corporate and golf days as well as being a highly accomplished after dinner speaker. Henry never won a World Heavyweight Championship, but he did win the lifelong affection of sports fans throughout the world. He was knighted in 2000 for his services to boxing.

Paddy Crerand
Former professional footballer

Paddy Crerand
Born in Glasgow in 1939 he joined Celtic and was regarded as a legend before Matt Busby came along and signed him for Manchester United in 1963. He became a legend there also and played in the great United team of that era with players such as Best, Law, Stiles and Charlton.

He picked up an FA Cup winners medal in his first year at United, also winning the League Championship in 1965 and 1967. The pinnacle, of course, came when he was part of the Manchester United team who won the European Cup in season 1967/1968. When he finally hung up his boots he remained on the coaching staff and still to this day retains a connection with the club via match day corporate hospitality, radio and television.

A very proud Scotsman he earned 16 International caps for his country and played a total of 392 games for Manchester United scoring 15 goals in the process.

Eric Davidson
Comedian
Eric Davidson

Eric hails from the 'Crème de la Skimmed Milk' of all mining villages, Newtongrange, Midlothian, where he lives with his wife and baby daughter. His parents, one from the West of Scotland, the other from the East but who married each other nevertheless, were not at all keen on Eric doing dangerous work down a Pit. Eric argued that nothing could have been more dangerous to his well being than the first job he ever had, that as Rear Gunner on the local Milk Lorry. However, their wishes were eventually granted and since leaving school, Eric has worked for a local Printing firm in nearby Dalkeith. His claim to fame is that in Season 1988/89, he scored a goal for Coldstream against Albion Rovers, in the 2nd Round of the Scottish Cup. He admits, however, that in those days, Albion Rovers weren't the powerful force in Scottish Football they are today!

Eric appeared in the highly acclaimed show, "Rhymes and Misdemeanours" at the 2000 Edinburgh Festival. With his satirical poetry, on subjects all things topical, allied with hilarious anecdotes, such as growing up in a mining village when the world was still in Black and White, Eric has been a refreshing addition to the after dinner circuit over the last two years. He has shared the top table at a variety of functions with personalities such as Nobby Stiles, Donald Findlay QC, Bill McMurdo, Peter Cormack, John Gahagan and Tony Higgins.

Functions include :
Deutsche Bank Corporate evening; Officers Mess, Faslane Naval Base; Barnton Hotel Golf Section; South Queensferry Sportsman's Dinner;
Invergordon Rugby Club; Postal Bowling Club; Royal Scots Club Edinburgh; Canmore Golf Club; Larbert Round Table; Bathgate Round Table; Murray International Metals
